Dr. James J. Kenney, PhD, LD, FACN.,  has served as the nutrition research specialist for the Pritikin Longevity Center since 1985, where he has been part of a multidisciplinary group of health professionals who provide a world class health education program teaching people how to prevent and treat diet-related diseases including high blood pressure, obesity, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, and coronary artery disease with diet and lifestyle changes. His passion for helping people better understand what the scientific research does and does not support about how diet impacts disease has made his lectures at the Pritikin Longevity Center among the most popular with participants in the program. Dr. Kenney’s interest in the treatment and prevention of high blood pressure is more than academic, having been himself diagnosed with hypertension in his mid-30s. Using his knowledge about how diet impacts blood pressure he reversed his hypertension and has maintained a blood pressure of about 110/70mmHg for the past 30+ years without any need for anti-hypertensive medications. With his extensive knowledge of the scientific literature and his personal experience at controlling his own blood pressure with diet and lifestyle Dr. Kenney can help answer whatever questions you may have about what the scientific evidence does and does not support in terms of how diet and lifestyle can be utilized to help prevent and treat high blood pressure.
